We celebrated daddy and mummy's wedding anniversary and Esther's belated birthday yesterday.

Bought cakes:

ate daddy's roast chicken and some wantan.

Yummy. It's great eating with family again but pity this year Steph isn't here to celebrate with us :(

Next year I will be gone too.

Then the following year after next, Esther would be gone too.

Sigh. How time flies...

Quite lazy to update my blog these few days.

Feeling tired lately. Sleeping late at night and waking up quite early and didn't take afternoon nap. For the last few days I was busy preparing my brothers for their exam. Damn tiring and boring. Sitting beside them teaching them.

Last night I stayed up quite late to help Steph finish her blog banner,

See,

isn't it nice? Because of it, I only slept 5 hours last night.

Damn...I'm so proud of myself :) haha.

Still need to improve though.

Photoshopping is fun!

I've finally got my camera back! Yay...But Esther forgot to pass me the charger. But never mind, Esther is coming back this Friday, hopefully she will remember to bring back the charger.

My thighs and right arm are quite sore after badminton and climbing Canada Hill yesterday. Climbing Canada Hill was quite fun. I think it really tests your stamina. I only climbed 2 out of 5 hills and I already feel sesak nafas. I wonder those aunties and uncles there managed to finish climbing 5 hills. They must have trained a lot.

Oh yea, I've just received my CRB report! Surprisingly it's quite fast. Took them less than 20 days only!

It's a little crumpled maybe due to the rain:

I pay 90 cents for stamps and RM20 for process fee just for one piece of paper!

mummy said that I've turned dark already. Haha. Maybe because I went hill climbing and swim and also to the beach with Ai Fei and her friends that day. But when I go UK, I will be fair again! Wakakaka

Oh yea...
I saw a jellyfish for the first time.

Pity it's dead.

Forwarded mails...urgh...

I hate receiving forwarded messages from people from friendster.

I was opening friendster message one day and was very surprise to see a few of my not-so-close friends messages there. But when I saw the message subject, I didn't even bother to open it coz I know that the message will be

'send this msg to 15 people and your wish will come true' (if it actually came true, I would have been a millionaire by now)

'if you don't send this msg in 5 min, sth bad will happen on you tonight' (thank you very much for the threat, but so far I've not sent any of those forwarded message and I'm still alive and kicking)

'friendster is closing down, send this msg to inform friendster that your account is still valid' ( Lol, I've ignored the msg so many times and nothing has happened to my friendster account)

I'm so sicked of these messages which keep flooding my friendster inbox. It's ok if they post it on the bulletin board coz I won't be reading it. But not in my friendster inbox! It's meant to receive personal message from friends. Not only friendster, yahoo and hotmail too. So sien, opening them and finding them so meaningless. The person who created these messages must be super bored.

But not all forwarded messages are meaningless.

I still welcome jokes, heart-warming stories and interesting facts :)

This milo jug may look as innocent as it seems:

But at a closer look, I nearly got a shock of my life!

what the...*rub eyes*

I could bet that my heart skipped a beat! It's definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Mind having milo+cicak's pee+maybe a little tahi (ew...)...No way! I rather have milo kosong!

What's is thie fella doing inside the milo jug? The last time was when a cicak fell into pot of soup which was left overnight. Dad said it's a mini crocodile swimming inside the soup.

My heart can't take anymore if there's anymore sudden 'appearances' of these little friends. Last Saturday night, I got another shock when something jumped on my leg in the car. Imagine sitting in the car comfortably when suddenly out-of-nowhere something black and slimey jumped on your thigh. What would you do? Shriek.

But my parents said that I'm overeacting. I didn't know what was it at that time as the car was dark. But I knew it was something that could jump. I told Jon it was a frog. Jon didn't believe. Not until the next day after church we saw a frog body at the back seat of the car. Dead.

So it was really a frog.

Lol. Dunno why I'm so unlucky. Nearly pecked to death by chickens (birds), then nearly scared to death by frog(amphibian) and cicak (reptile). What next? Fish and Mammals??

But anyway, life would be so boring without these little animals adding a little spice on it :)

forgot to post this last time:

can you see it?

Monday, July 17, 2006

I'm 'forced' to post this blog since Steph asked why I never update my blog (what?! I just updated yesterday!! Hmm...I wonder what's her definition of 'update' to her)

First, let me begin with some oh-so-interesting happenings in my monotonous day today.

The hens have broken the record by laying 9 eggs today!

Hooray!

I nearly risked myself being pecked to death while taking this photo as the ever-hungry chickens were surrounding me thinking that I was carrying food.

A small 'army' of chickens following behind me:

These chickens are damn agressive. As what Jon said, 'instead of you chasing them, it's them chasing you.'

Later, I went to eat dinner at Dynasty with my family. Had to miss my Hong Kong and Taiwan series which were shown at 6 and 7pm respectively :( . Overeating again. Looks like I've to swim extra rounds to shed off those fats.

Weird egg

Today Jon showed me a really weird egg:

Dad said it's a soft-shell egg:

Weird.

daddy said that he hasn't been buying eggs for months. All thanks to them :):

Thanks chickens! haha

One day I should take photo of the chickens mating. Lynda and Yen Bee said they haven't seen them doing it before. *naughty grin*

Oh yea...today I ate banana fritters cooked by daddy. Too bad when I finally decided to take photo of it, only half of the banana fritter was left, all eaten by greedy Janice. Anyway, it's still better than nothing *chuckle*

Yummy:

recipe

Vienna cake

I copied this recipe about urm...6 years ago and the paper which this recipe was written on has turned yellow. So I'd better post it here before one day when I find this paper it had become a crumble of dust. (Beside is my edited version for double portion, I didn't use the plain chocolate coz too tedious)

225/80oz butter/margarine (450g)
225/80oz sugar (450g)
3 eggs, separated (6)
3 tbsps milk (7)
90g cocoa powder (150g)
225g plain flour (450g)
175g plain chocolate

1. Place the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and cream together until light and fluffy.

2. Add the egg yolks and beat well. Mix in the milk.

3. Combine the cocoa powder and fold into the creamed mixture, which will be very stiff at this point.

4. Beat the egg whites until they are stiff and fold gently into the mixture.

5. Spoon into a lined 18cm/7-inch cake tin and bake in an oven preheated to 150 celcius/ 300F. Gas Mark 2 for 1.5 hours until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

6. Turn out into a wire rack to cool.

7. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.

8. Cover the cake with the melted chocolate, smoothing it over a knife dipped in boiling water.

Cotton cheesecake

I got this recipe when I was reading thestar one day. It's quite easy to make and the ingredients are affordable.

(A)
70g UHT milk
185g cream cheese
35g butter

(B)
5 egg yolks
1 tbsp lemon juice

(C)
35g superfine flour
35g corn flour

5 egg whites
115g castor sugar
1/4 tsp salt

Grease well a 24cm spring-form cake pan. Beat butter and cream cheese with an electric blender until well combined. Drip in milk until well combined. Drip in milk gradually and beat until mixture is smooth. Leave aside.

Add in egg yolk and lemon juice, and beat until light and fluffy. Fold in sifted flour and corn flour to mix until evenly blended.

In a clean bowl, whisk egg whites with salt and sugar until thick. Gradually fold into the cream cheese mixture. Pour mixture into the prepared pan and bake in preheated oven at 160c for 1-1 1/4 hours or until slightly golden.

Switch off the oven and leave cake inside the oven for 12-15 minutes with oven door ajar.

Remove cake and invert the cake for 5-6 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Home sweet home?

Life at home is so monotonous.

If I'm not sleeping, then it's cooking, not cooking, then it's playing piano or going online.

24 hours just gone like that.

Sigh.

I'm a bit not used to staying at home actually. Last time when I was in KL, I swim at least 3 times each week to..hehe...cut off fat *whisper* (to say the truth, I actually gained 4 kilos when I was in KL). But now that I'm back in Miri, I feel as if every scoop of rice I eat, I'll gain some more weight coz I don't exercise anymore to burn off fat. *Oh no, when did I become so weight-conscious?*

Sometimes I wonder why do I have to go home actually? I asked one of my friends before what's good about home. Then he said, 'can eat home-cooked food ah'. Haha. (No offense to that friend ya, if you are reading this). Eat home-cooked food...rite *sarcastic*. But the problem is that it's me doing all the cooking now! I've to cook lunch and dinner - all alone. For the whole family. Well, my friend's statement is correct in some way actually...I get to eat food cooked at home! LOL

I know I shouldn't be complaining actually. Dad is busy working, I know. I can't leave my brothers starve for the whole afternoon and night when dad and mum are in office busy working. Now I fully comprehend my dad's feelings for cooking for us all this while. No wonder last time he got quite 'geram' when he saw us watching tv and he busy cooking. I would have lost my head too if I see my brothers playing online games and me busy cooking. But I told myself, 'another 1 month and it's over', hehe...Poor dad. He has to cook alone after I've gone. Nobody to help him. Hope Timothy or Joshua would be thoughtful enough to help daddy lo.

my mission

my mum just told me that I don't have to work part-time during my holidays...instead...i've to spend full-time now teaching my brothers. Jonathan's PMR is coming soon, so my mum asked me to guide him (sigh. My mum has enrolled Timothy and Joshua in piano classes so I've to teach them too to accelerate their learning process so that they learn faster.

so, my mission for July-August is:
1. teach Jon
2. teach Tim and Josh piano
3. clean the house
4. download tons of Japanese dramas

Finally leaving KL

Sad.

I'm finally leaving KL after staying for 1.5 years there.

It's like another home in KL.

I like KL because:
1. freedom to move around
2. freedom to do anything I like
3. freedom to cook anytime I want
4. freedom to manage my budget
5. freedom to watch tv anytime I want

Seems like it all boils down to freedom. sigh. I enjoy traveling around KL, going to places I've been before. Unlike Miri, I'm confined to my home. I can't go out often and have to return home early. If you were to ask me which place I'm more familiar with, I would say KL! Haha. In KL, I know the General Hospital is on Jalan Pahang. But in Miri, I don't know. And some more, I don't even know what's nice in Miri, where to see nice beach, eat nice food...but I only where to buy cheap things la...Boulevard and Servay! Haha.

I actually sort of miss KL already. Yesterday ice-skating was really fun tho I'd to suffer the after-effect of ice-skating (bruises). But thinking it's the last time I get to see them makes me feel sad. I might meet Yen Bee again. But Anu, I don't know. Lawrence too. I was really forgetful for not bringing my camera. Sigh. Now have to rely on my friends to send me the photos. Hope they send me *crossing fingers*

so far I can only think 1 thing that makes me feel good about leaving KL. It's is that I don't have to become Esther's slave anymore! *dodging the pillow thrown by Esther* For the past one week, Esther has been made Queen Esther because she didn't have to do any house chores coz her exams is coming. So, I've to wash the dishes, cook and wash her clothes for her. See, how nice I am. Don't ask me to do that for you Steph. Humph..unless you pay me. I don't know Esther misses me or not. Nobody for her to bully anymore. Nobody to snuggle when she sleeps and nobody to show her mousie face to anymore. Ah well Esther, you have to wait another 2 weeks before you can do that to me again in Miri

ok, so long KL. I will be back in end-of-August to make my visa. Hope can meet up with my friends again. This time I will bring my camera along.

Went ice-skating yesterday.

It went horrible :(

I kept falling down until my pants became so wet. Lawrence was pretty good at ice skating. Though he never roller blade before, he could learn ice skating really fast. Me ler...hopeless case. From 2pm to 6.30pm, the only thing I could do is balance myself on the ice. I still don't know how to glide on the ice.

This morning I woke up to find my whole body aching. Not only that, my knees are blue-black because of the bruises.

OUCH:

oh yea...i've taken off my braces..finally...today! So happy. But doctor said that I've to wear the retainers full-time from now on for one year. So for the whole year, I'm stuck with this thing. LOL. Very troublesome coz everytime I eat, I've to take off my retainers

For the past one week...

It’s been one week since my exams finished. And I feel as if it’s already past one month. Maybe because for the past one week had been really hectic for me, traveling up and down, north and south in Selangor. Finally, today I could really rest for one full day in my room.

Yesterday was by far the most eventful day for me. I woke up early, brought my cousin’s accounts books to college to pass to a junior who wanted to buy them. But, before I left college, the junior messaged me saying that the lecturer wanted the 10th edition accounts books and asked whether I could return. Sigh, I thought I’d at least successfully managed to sell of the acc books but in the end I didn’t. I returned her the money but told her to keep the books. No use keeping those books in my room anyway.

Then I quickly rush to a nearby photo shop to take my passport photo. 6 for RM15. Is it cheap? I don’t know. It took 5 minutes for the whole process, taking photo and processing it. Anyway, I couldn’t care much anymore coz I had to rush to Putrajaya to apply for my letter of conduct.

After that, I went to the wet market to buy some turnips and carrots to make popiah. Haven’t been to market for at least 1.5 months. Even the aunty commented that she hasn’t seen me for so long. And I was unusually quite talkative that day and said that that was my last day doing shopping in the wet market. I told her that I will be going back to S’wak next week. ‘Oh, so you are from S’wak ah?’ the aunty asked. So, the conversation led on until the aunty knew that I’m going to UK. ‘Wah…your father must be a rich man!’ *sweat* My father not rich la…it’s just that my parents have been saving money since they started working to support their children for higher education (proud that I’ve such thoughtful parents *beaming*)

By the time I arrived at Putrajaya, it was 1.30pm. I thought I could finish early but it turned out that I was wrong. I was told to sit on bus 426 and 427 coz the man at the information counter told me that he didn’t know where the ministry of foreign affairs was. Since bus 426 and 427 were under rapidkl so it was sort of free for me to sit coz they were included in my ‘pas harian sepadu’ ( RM7 to use all services provided my rapidkl for one whole day). I later found out that the MFA was at Wisma Putra and I knew a bus called Nadi Putra which actually go to Wisma Putra but I didn’t want to use it since I’ve to pay. So I decided to give Rapidkl. I used bus 426 first, halfway through the journey:

Me: kalau mahu pergi Wisma Putra, bas mana patut saya guna?
426 Conductor: aiya…kamu sudah salah naik…itu bas 427 (very confidently)
Me: yakah? Kenapa tak ada tulis pada kertas ini? (I showed him the bas route for all rapidkl buses)
426 Conductor: memang begitu punya…ada pass by wisma putra.

So at Putrajaya Sentral, the 426 conductor asked me again to use bus 427. I was kinda unsure coz I looked at the bus route and found out that bus 427 travels nowhere near wisma Putra. So before I got on bus 427, I asked the conductor again. And the conductor said yes.I shouldn’t have listened to him but should have trusted my six sense. And it turned out it didn’t go to Wisma Putra at all! Sigh. Instead, it passed by a place called ‘Perdana Putra’ which I think both the conductors thought is the same as Wisma Putra…lol. I wasted about 1.5 hour ‘touring’ around Putrajaya just because I wanted to save money. So by the time I reached Wisma Putra it was 3.30pm. Lucky the office closes at 4 so I was in time.

When I reached KL, it was 5.30pm. Since I’d the pas thingy, I decided to tour around KL using some of the rapidkl buses I always see at KL Sentral. I hopped into the a bus and stopped at some place which I believed is Chow Kit since I saw many hotels there. Then I hopped on one again and reached Titiwangsa. Since I was there, I decided to check out whether the rumour Esther told me was true saying that Kamal Medical bookstore has closed down coz the owner was heavily in debt. And to my shock, it was opened! Business as usual. Lol. If I’d known, I would have brought the booklist Steph gave me and money with me la…so geram. Shouldn’t have believed that stupid rumour.

Boarded the LRT at Titiwangsa station and stopped at Sri Petaling. Esther said the Pasar Malam opens every Tuesday so I decided to go there by bus since I wanted to maximize my use of my RM7 pas. Instead, I waited for 1 hour for the –tut- bus to come but it didn’t turn up. Sigh. %$&*@! *cursing*

Went home pretty angry and jumped into the swimming pool to chill out.

Lesson of the day: never believe rumours until you really see it with your own eyes and always trust your instinct

Finally after 18+ years…
I’ve finally understand why whenever I smile in photos, my smile appears to be crooked.

I’ve asymmetric jawbone.

I thought it was kinda normal to see my smile crooked coz I thought I saw many people having not-straight smile.

Not until during one of my visits to my ortho then I realized that my jawbone is asymmetrical. I’m yet to know what exactly asymmetric jawbone is. But I know that it is a condition where half of your face is longer than the other.

I read the newspaper that day which reported that scientists have found a way to make tooth re-grow and possibly cure asymmetric jawbone using ultrasound. Yay. But I would be an old woman by then. Maybe yes maybe not. Who knows?
